Organizational Location: This position is with the Department of Homeland Security, within U.S. Customs and Border Protection, Office of Intelligence, Intelligence Enterprise Mission Support Directorate, Security Division located in San Juan, Puerto Rico.
Duties
In this position you will conduct planning of all security programs which impact operational readiness, safety, and security of facilities and technical systems which affect Customs and Border Protection (CBP), other Federal agencies, private entities, and the general public within the CBP Top Secret/Special Compartmented Information (TS/SCI) facilities.
This position starts at a salary of $86,962.00 (GS-12, Step 1) to $134,435.00 (GS-13, Step 10).

Major duties in this position include:
Qualifications
Experience: You qualify for the GS-12 grade level if you possess 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level, performing duties such as:
Conducting appropriate Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) briefings/debriefings
Planning, scheduling, coordinating, carrying out, and monitoring the effectiveness of the Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) Personnel Security (PERSEC) program
Processing of foreign contacts and foreign travel; preparing reports on security infractions and violations
Conducting security assessments to ensure proper classification, handling, accountability, safeguarding, and approved destruction methods are in place
Providing advice, assistance, and guidance to supervisors, managers, and employees on complex physical security matters
Experience: You qualify for the GS-13 grade level if you possess 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level, performing duties such as:
Deciding which analytical and technical decisions form the basis for majority security program policy and operational decisions by upper management
Coordinating improvements and measuring for the protection of government property and facilities and assisting in inquiries or investigations when necessary
Developing program policies and recommending changes to internal security procedures; conducting studies and analyzing the impact of changes in mission, programs, workforce, and facilities
Preparing plans and methods to upgrade the obsolete security systems to be compatible with both current and future Office of Intelligence initiatives.

Individuals are required to have physically resided in the United States or its protectorates (as declared under international law) for at least three of the last five years. Working for the U.S. Government as a federal civilian or as a member of the military

Working as a contractor, intern, consultant or volunteer supporting the U.S. government
Probationary Period: All employees new to the federal government must serve a one year probationary period during the first year of his/her initial permanent federal appointment to determine fitness for continued employment.
