THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION
This National Guard position is for a PUBLIC HEALTH TECHNICIAN (TITLE 32), Position Description Number D1723000 and is part of the FL 125th FW, National Guard.
Duties
As a PUBLIC HEALTH TECHNICIAN, GS-0640-08, you will manage the Occupational Health and Safety Administration (OSHA), Air Force Occupational Safety and Health (AFOSH) mandated occupational health education and training programs and Department of Defense Instruction (DODI). Determine educational/training requirements for employees by analyzing existing compliance data. Work in conjunction with unit workplace supervisors to develop and conduct occupational health education training relative to both general and specific hazards. Set up surveys, provide education, track and develop training, research requirements and provide coordination to ensure programs are viable.

- This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the employing state's National Guard, required prior to the effective date of placement.
- Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform.
- Security Clearance requirements are determined by position and/or MOS/AFSC compatibility.
- Participation in direct deposit is mandatory.
- May be required to successfully complete a probationary period.
- Males born after 31 December 1959 must be registered for Selective Service.
Qualifications
AREA OF CONSIDERATION: This position is in the Excepted Federal Civil Service "under the authority of 32 U.S.C. 709", and is open to Category 1: All permanent/indefinite (T32 and T5) technicians employed by the agency Category 3: All current military members of the Florida National Guard; and Category 4: All individuals who qualify for membership in the Florida National Guard and are willing to become T32 Dual Status technicians. First consideration will be given to Category 1.
TEMPORARY PROMOTION - For Title 32 selectees only: This is an obligated position (incumbent is on a military tour). If a permanent employee in the Title 32 excepted civil service accepts this position, he/she will retain their permanent status AND return to their previous Title 32 position once incumbent returns from military duty. If the military tour member, who has reemployment rights to this position, does not exercise his/her reemployment rights within 5 years, the selected individual may remain in this position without further competition.
INDEFINITE APPOINTMENT - For Current Title 5 selectees only: This is an obligated position (incumbent is on a military tour). If an on-board individual employed in the Title 5 excepted civil service accepts this position, he/she will receive an indefinite appointment (Tenure 3). If a Reduction-In-Force occurs and/or the military tour member exercises reemployment rights to this position, the indefinite appointee will have no reemployment rights to any other position and may be separated. If the military tour member, having reemployment rights to this position, does not exercise his/her rights within 5 years, this position may be converted to a permanent status without further competition.

PCS: Permanent Change of Station (PCS) costs, Recruitment or Relocation Incentive MAY be authorized. Authorization for payment of PCS expenses, Recruitment or Relocation Incentive will be granted ONLY after determination is made that payment is in the best interest of the Florida National Guard.

MILITARY GRADES: Enlisted; E4 thru E7.
GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Must have experience, education, or training which provided a basic knowledge of principles and practices related to the health care delivery system.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: GS-08 at least 1 year of experience in performing public health program work and managing public health activities; with experience in functions such as, routine food safety and defense inspection; sanitary evaluations; communicable disease control and disease intervention; occupational health; force health management activities, PHA cell, medical entomology programs and public health medical readiness programs.
