You will serve as a Sign Painter Supervisor in the Navy Personnel Command (NAVPERSCOM) Corrections and Programs Office (PERS-00D) of NAVAL CONSOLIDATED BRIG MIRAMAR.
Duties
You will serve as the training coordinator for the graphic design apprenticeship program.
You will design, lay out and decorate signs, execute freehand and mechanical lettering, perform silkscreen printing and apply reflective sheeting and lettering w/machines.
You will organize staffs, leads, and control a vocational workshop in a corrections environment.
You will prepare and manage work projects and assignments, schedules shifts and sequences of operations, and assign prisoners signs making, sign painting and related task.
You will ensure all staff and prisoners adhere to safety standards, command policies and procedures.
You will operate and supervise the operation of computers and software supporting the graphical design of products and training requirement of a Sign Shop.
You will determine the steps required and complete projects using standard trade practices.
Requirements

- Work requires frequent movement of hand and arm, standing, reaching, and bending, as well as lifting materials up to 10 pounds.
- Occasionally, some projects may require heavier effort in doing tasks such as erecting signs or displays, kneeling to letter vehicles and equipment, or climbing ladders.
- Sign painters may handle items up to 40 pounds occasionally.
Qualifications

Qualification requirements emphasis is on quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time.

I work under close supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed.
