The incumbent serves as an Air Traffic Control Specialist in the Air Traffic Safety Oversight Service (AOV). Responsible for implementing, conducting, auditing, and directing work activities required to achieve AOV goals.
Duties
May act as a contributing specialist on broad work activities or may be individually responsible for projects or activities, which is to ensure continued National Airspace System (NAS) operational safety through the execution of AOV activities such as coordination, assessments, data review, and issue screening process. Typical assignments involve the design and integration, rule making, extensive research; and shared responsibility for project/program management. Verifies and evaluates test activities to ensure that developed changes are implemented as designed and meet air traffic operational safety requirements.
Requirements
- US Citizenship is required.
- Selective Service Registration is required for males born after 12/31/1959.
- Must submit an SF50 (See Required Documents).
- This position is not covered by Public Law 92.297 for early retirement purposes.
- If selected for this position, you will not separate air traffic.

This experience must have provided a comprehensive knowledge of appropriate air traffic control laws, rules and regulations. Creditable experience must have equipped applicants with the knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the full range of duties of the position for which application is being made.To qualify for this position at the I payband you must demonstrate in your application that you possess at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to FV-H or FG/GS 12 in the Federal Service. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position.Specialized experience includes: Experience performing analysis of air traffic data to identify safety issues. To qualify for this position at the J payband you must demonstrate in your application that you possess at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to FV-I or FG/GS 13 in the Federal Service. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position.Specialized experience includes: Experience analyzing safety data from multiple sources to identify safety issues and emerging and changing risks, and make recommendations to resolve safety issues.Qualifications must be met by the closing date of this vacancy announcement.Selection will be at the I or J pay band.
