Duties
Review all requests to ensure agreement of budgetary account codes.
Report surpluses or shortages of funds to supervisor. and compute, edit, and consolidate monthly reports for assigned budgetary areas.
Establish and maintain related office technical and administrative files in accordance with applicable regulations.
Researches and resolves discrepancies and maintains liaison with accounting personnel to correct errors and reconcile accounts.
Use a variety of automated programs for research.
Develops computer queries to extract accounting data.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- A Personnel Security Investigation is required.
- This is a Financial Management Level 1 Certified position designated as such in accordance with the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) 2012, Public Law 112-81, Subtitle F-Financial Management, section 1051, amending 10 United States Code,
- This position may require the incumbent to work weekends and/or holidays.

Budget Technician Qualification Requirements
Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes creating and/or maintaining budgets, monitoring budget requests, and creating statistical budget reports. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06.
Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
