ORGANIZATIONAL LOCATION: Department of Health & Health Human Services (HHS), Indian Health Service (IHS), Southwest Region, Phoenix Area, Professional Services-Social Services Department, Colorado River Service Unit, located in Parker, Arizona. Position is supervised under the Social Services Supervisor.

Duties

Major duties: Serves as a recovery agency by providing and advocating for any effective recovery based services that aid in tribal member in daily living. Serve as a liaison to develop and/or foster tribal members' community integration and development. Inform tribal members about community and mutual support and provide guidance in the use of the recovery process. Provide ongoing individual and group sessions to articulate personal goals for recovery. Maintain a working knowledge of current trends and developments in the mental health field.

Qualifications

To qualify for this position, your resume must state sufficient experience and/or education, to perform the duties of the specific position for which you are applying. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer and part time experience. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: GS-6: Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-5 grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks: Provides support to mental healthcare professionals in hospitals, private institutions or patient residences, observe and report information about patient behavior to healthcare professionals, including mood swings and the wellbeing of patients, transport patients to and from appointments. GS-7: Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-6 grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks: Providing direct non-professional client care, provide assistance and support to Mental Health professionals, track any behavioral changes in patients and report to providers, develop and implement treatment programs, transport patients to and from appointments. OR Education: Completed 1 year (18 semester hours) of graduate education directly related to the positions. Transcripts must be submitted. OR Combination of education and specialized experience: Combination of education and experience when combined fully meet the minimum qualifications for this position. The total percentage equals at least 100 percent to qualify for this GS-07 grade level. Time In Grade Federal employees in the competitive service are also subject to the Time-In-Grade Requirements: Merit Promotion (status) candidates must have completed one year of service at the next lower grade level. Time-In-Grade provisions do not apply under the Excepted Service Examining Plan (ESEP). You must meet all qualification requirements within 30 days of the closing date of the announcement.
