This position is only open to current R4 employees and is located in the Intermountain Regional Office in Ogden, UT. This position is responsible for assisting the Regional Fleet Manager in the overall management of fleet program within the Region. The position serves as acting Regional Fleet Manager in their absence. For additional information about the duties of this position, please contact Brent Law at [email protected].

Duties

Provide technical expertise and advice to the Regional Fleet Manager to provide solutions to program problems and issues. Develop vehicle specifications for specialized equipment requests, such as Fire, Law Enforcement and heavy equipment. Provide input for long term fleet plans and complex fleet program proposals. Assist in developing plans and procedures for managing the fleet program, such as cost studies, budget requirements and other planning activities for both Regional and Unit level activities. Provide advice and guidance on alternatives in fleet composition (types of vehicles and equipment) fleet sources (Forest Service, GSA, project, commercial rental) and energy efficiency (gasoline, diesel, LPF, electric vehicle size, etc.) Make recommendations to managers on vehicles and equipment replacement needs based upon maintenance costs, age, use, condition and the needs of the project.

Qualifications

In order to qualify, you must meet the eligibility and qualifications requirements as defined below by the closing date of the announcement. Specialized Experience Requirement: GS-12: One year at the GS-11 level performing one or more of the following examples: Assisted in coordinating, planning, and evaluating a vehicle fleet and equipment management program on a long-term basis, to ensure the fleet program is effective and efficient; Communicated with senior fleet manager or other senior unit management officials regarding efficiency of a fleet and equipment management program; Gathered data to track a fleet and equipment management program and prepared written communication on ways to improve the program; Assisted in the coordination and facilitation of a fleet and equipment management program and assisted with tracking budget/expenditures. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. TIME IN GRADE REQUIREMENT: If you are a current federal employee in the General Schedule (GS) pay plan and applying for a promotion opportunity, you must meet time-in-grade (TIG) requirements of 52 weeks of service at the next lower grade level in the normal line of progression for the position being filled. This requirement must be met by the closing date of this announcement.
