This position is located within Ranger Districts on a National Forest within Intermountain Region, Region 4.
The incumbent is responsible for accomplishing a variety of support services including but not limited to the following: procurement of administrative supplies and equipment, budget planning, work planning, initiating personnel actions and database support.

Duties
Duties listed are at the full performance level GS-7
Prepares budget requests and monitors expenditures for administrative operations, front desk operations and facility maintenance.
Initiates and oversees a variety of personnel processing activities, e.g., initiating electronic requests for personnel actions and input of annual performance ratings.
Keeps employees informed of human resources policy and regulatory changes, such as those related to leave, injury compensation, retirement, promotion, etc.
Responsible for purchasing or contracting for supplies, equipment, and services through open market purchase by blanket arrangement, check, field purchase order using a government purchase card, or other appropriate acquisition systems.
Plans and performs general property management support services, such as maintenance and disposal of equipment.
Advises staff on availability of funds and the impact that pending procurement actions will have on the operating budget.
Provides technical guidance and leadership to other employees in the administrative support services group.
Performs as a supervisor.
Requirements
- Must be a U.S. Citizen or National.
- Males born after 12/31/1959 must be Selective Service registered or exempt.
- Subject to satisfactory adjudication of background investigation and/or fingerprint check.
- Successful completion of one year probationary period, unless previously served.

Qualifications

Specialized Experience Requirement:
For the GS-06 level: Applicants must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-05 grade level; Examples of specialized experience include: Interact with the public and provide customer service; collect monies from sales of goods or services, and perform accounting, balancing, reconciling, and accurate record keeping of company funds; track budget expenses; enter/track data in an automated system; use of office automation and technology (i.e., various software/database applications) for organizational tracking, reporting purposes, or preparation of correspondence; purchase a variety of supplies with a company credit card, and maintain a complete auditable trail for all transactions; maintain inventory of property or equipment; maintain hardcopy and electronic files.
OR
one full year (18 semester/27 quarter hours) of successfully completed graduate level coursework that is directly related to the work of the position (such as Business or Public Administration, or other administrative or management fields related to the position being filled);
OR
combinations of graduate level education that is directly related to the position and specialized experience. The education must have been obtained in an accredited college or university.
For the GS-07 level: Applicants must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-06 grade level; Examples of specialized experience include: Interact with the public and provide customer service; collect monies from sale of goods, permits, passes, or services, and perform accounting, balancing, reconciling, and accurate record keeping of company funds; prepare and monitor human resources and budget information in an automated system; use of office automation and technology (i.e., various software/database applications) for organizational tracking, reporting purposes, or preparation of correspondence; purchase a variety of supplies/services/equipment with a company credit card or purchase order, and maintain a complete auditable trail for all transactions; maintain all unit property and inventory; records and correspondence management.
OR
one full year (18 semester/27 quarter hours) of successfully completed graduate level education if the coursework is directly related to the work of the position (for example Business or Public Administration, or other administrative or management fields related to the position being filled);
OR
combinations of graduate level education that is directly related to the position and specialized experience. The education must have been obtained in an accredited college or university. Experience must have demonstrated knowledge of the methods and procedures for providing or performing a variety of functions and services applicable to the position to be filled; ability to plan, organize, and control work involving diverse activities; ability to gain cooperation and coordinate the work of others; and skill in oral and written communications.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
TIME IN GRADE REQUIREMENT: If you are a current federal employee in the General Schedule (GS) pay plan and applying for a promotion opportunity, you must meet time-in-grade (TIG) requirements of 52 weeks of service at the next lower grade level in the normal line of progression for the position being filled. This requirement must be met by the closing date of this announcement.
