This position is located with the Bureau of Indian Affairs, Superintendent, Blackfeet Agency in Browning, Montana. This position contributes to the Project's mission by providing leadership and guidance to the employees. Duties

Regulate and distribute irrigation water from and between storage reservoirs at diversions and in canals, and at all delivery points within the specified work territory. Receive water orders, take daily measurements, maintain records of water delivery, reservoir inflow and instream flows; calculate requirements and arranges quantity, time and duration of deliveries. Operate Project distribution facilities (dam gates, canal gates, checks, etc.) to regulate and deliver water in accordance with Project policies. Responsible for constant surveillance of condition of reservoirs, dams, canals, structures, buildings, recorder stations and other facilities. Work with maintenance crew to clean ditches and structures, repair and replace structures, build/place concrete forms and operate hand or power tools.

• This is a permanent Full-Time Seasonal position and subject to placement in Non-Pay Status when services are not needed due to lack of work, funds, or unforeseen circumstances. A career seasonal agreement must be signed.

Qualifications

This position is OPEN UNTIL FILLED and may be extended or closed prior to the current closing date. Individual Occupational Requirments Specialized Experience (for positions at GS-04 and above) Grade(5) 1 Year of specialized experience is demonstrated Farming or ranching work that provided knowledge of soil and water conservation practices and irrigation procedures used in the geographical area for which application is made. Construction, maintenance, or operating work that provided a knowledge of the control, regulation, distribution, and measurement of water. Controlling, clearing, repairing, and maintaining irrigation ditches, canals, and equipment, or soil conservation or engineering technician work where the duties provided a knowledge of irrigation procedures. OR Successful completion of a full 4-year of study leading to a bachelor's degree with major study or at least 24 semester hours in any combination of courses such as civil engineering, agriculture, soil management or conservation, physical science, mathematics, or range management or conservation. All qualification requirements must be met by the closing date of this announcement. Merit Promotion candidates must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the announcement closing date. One academic year of graduate education is considered to be the number of credits hours your graduate school has determined to represent one academic year of full-time study. Such study may have been performed on a full-time or part-time basis. If you cannot obtain your graduate school's definition of one year of graduate study, 18 semester hours (or 27 quarter hours) should be considered as satisfying the requirement for one year of full-time graduate study.

If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must send a Certificate of Foreign Equivalency with your transcript in order to receive credit for that education which shows the education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university.
