This position is a Maintenance Worker, GS- 4749-5 working in Mohave Valley, Arizona for the Lake Havasu Refuges Complex.
This is a term position expected to last 13 MONTHS but may be extended up to a total of 4 years at management's discretion.
Duties
As a Maintenance Worker, your duties will include, but are not limited to, the following:
Assists in lifting, carrying, holding materials and performing other related tasks in installing outdoor water systems, cleaning plugged water pipes and sewer lines, and in renovation of building interiors and exteriors, and the replacement of worn plumbing fixtures.
Performance of minor electrical maintenance and repairs.
Drives one or more types of trucks with rated weight capacities up to and including one ton.
Maintains boats and marine engines.
Maintain walking trails, boardwalks and observation points.
Requirements
- Must be a U.S. Citizen or National.
- Suitability for employment, as determined by background investigation.
- Driver’s License: This position requires the incumbent to operate a government (or private) motor vehicle as part of their official duties. Selectee must hold and maintain a valid state driver’s license throughout their employment in this position.
- Uniform: Official U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service uniform is required.
- Probationary Period: Selectees may be required to successfully complete a probationary period.

- Must possess or be able to obtain (within 6 months of employment) and maintain USFWS approved certification.

Although no specific amount of experience, education or training is required, applicants must meet a minimum level of ability in relation to the position and the Assessment Questionnaire in order to be rated qualified for consideration. To be qualified candidates must meet any screen out element(s) listed at an "acceptable" level, and must achieve an average rating of at least "acceptable" on all of the elements. Only education, training, or experience acquired before the closing date of this announcement will be considered.
SCREEN-OUT ELEMENT: Your qualifications will first be evaluated against the prescribed screen out element, which usually appears as question 1 in the on-line questionnaire. Those applicants who appear to possess at least the minimal acceptable qualification requirement are considered for further rating; those who do not are rated ineligible and are eliminated. The potential eligibles are then rated against the remainder of the Job Elements.
The screen out element for this position is: Ability to perform the Maintenance Worker duties of this position without more than normal supervision.
