This position is located in Alaska Region, Region 10, Chugach National Forest unit, with responsibility for the administration and operation of recreation programs on the lake surface and maintenance of the developed and dispersed areas within the assigned unit. Duties

Assists the Recreation Officer in coordinating the operation and maintenance of the recreation facilities and boat fleet. Assists in the coordination of activities with Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) license holders, local law enforcement, and campground concessionaires. Monitors the water storage facilities, distribution systems, water quality considerations, distribution system operation and maintenance, disinfection, and safety. Gathers data and information for the supervisor when they are preparing detailed project work plans and schedules.

Qualifications

In order to qualify, you must meet the eligibility and qualifications requirements as defined below by the closing date of the announcement. Provide course descriptions as necessary. Specialized Experience Requirement: For the GS-06: One year of specialized experience equivalent to GS-05. Examples of specialized experience includes meeting 2 of the following 3 statements: Assisting in the development of plans for recreation area maintenance, rehabilitation, reconstruction, and construction projects in accordance with program management objectives and policies; and/or serving as an inspector and/or forest protection officer patrolling the area and inspecting or investigating potential problems and misuse; and/or collecting data and information and maintaining records. Substitution of Education for Experience: One full year (18 semester/27 quarter hours) of successfully completed graduate level coursework that is directly related to the work of the position (such as forestry, range management, agriculture). OR combinations of graduate level education that is directly related to the position and specialized experience. The education must have been obtained in an accredited college or university. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. TIME IN GRADE REQUIREMENT: If you are a current federal employee in the General Schedule (GS) pay plan and applying for a promotion opportunity, you must meet time-in-grade (TIG) requirements of 52 weeks of service at the next lower grade level in the normal line of progression for the position being filled. This requirement must be met by the closing date of this announcement.
