Duties
You will serve as an Engineering Technician performing parachute inspections, repairs, and repacks and quality assurance inspections and repair of fleet parachutes.
Requirements

- Must be determined suitable for federal employment.

- You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
Qualifications
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the next lowest grade level (GS-07 / GS- 09) or pay band (DT-02 / DT-03) in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Grade level will be determined based on your level of experience in the following areas:
1) fabricating textile items for test and evaluation of parachute systems;
2) familiarity with sewing machine operations and textile fabrication techniques;
3) performing basic sewing machine maintenance and repair;
4) fabricating textile closing loops, bridles, Mylar bags, and hermetically sealing parachute systems;
5) performing reviews of engineering drawings and technical manuals.

Education
The following education may be substituted for specialized experience:
FOR DT-03 LEVEL ONLY
Two full years of graduate education or a master's degree.
If education is used to meet specialized experience requirements, then such education must include courses directly related to the work of the position.
One year of full-time graduate education is considered to be the number of credit hours that the school attended has determined to represent 1 year of full-time study. If that information cannot be obtained from the school, 18 semester hours should be considered as satisfying the 1 year of full-time study requirement. Part-time graduate education is creditable in accordance with its relationship to a year of full-time study at the school attended.
