About the Position: This position is in the Defense Civilian Intelligence Personnel System (DCIPS). Employees occupying DCIPS positions are in the Excepted Service and must adhere to U.S. Code, Title 10, as well as Department of Defense Instruction 1400.25. This position is located at the NGIC GEOSPATIAL Intelligence Battalion, OPIR Division, Denver Branch, Buckley AFB, CO 80011.

Duties

Serves as a Physical Scientist, performing intelligence analyst duties requiring professional knowledge of the physical sciences. Defines critical intelligence issues and trends for a difficult and complex Science and Technology (S and T) area. Designs innovative projects to produce targeted intelligence products, including forecasts and overall capability assessments. Develops and utilizes new research methodologies, including development of sophisticated data processing tools and algorithms, integrative data bases, and performing tool and system testing. Develops overall analytical objectives, project scope, and emphasis through an assessment of customer requirements and Army mission objectives. Formulates Army’s position on critical issues and projects evolving from assigned specialty area. Provides timely, authoritative, and sound advice and recommendations on assigned intelligence specialty area through the chain of command.

Requirements

• Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
• Two year trial/probationary period may be required.
• In accordance with Change 3 to AR 600-85, Alcohol and Drug Abuse Prevention and Control Program, individual must successfully pass a urinalysis screening for illegal drug use prior to appointment and periodically thereafter.
• Must be willing to undergo and successfully complete a counterintelligence-scope polygraph examination with No Deception Indicated (NDI) on a pre-appointment and periodic basis.
