About the Position: This is a Permanent position as a Facility Operations Specialist, located with US Army Central, S-2 S-3 Headquarters Section, Shaw AFB, SC. The incumbent serves as the manager and focal point for all of the Army Central Command facilities, buildings and adjacent grounds located at Fort McPherson and Fort Gillem. Telework information: Situational Telework Only, Including emergency and Office of Personnel Management (OPM) prescribed unscheduled telework.

Duties

Serves as the chief advisor to the ARCENT Command Group on all facility and building matters. Plans and administers overall programs to promote occupant safety and comfort to include operation of concessions; safety, fire, and security protection; and buildings and grounds maintenance. Conducts detailed inspections to determine structural deficiencies, proper use, supervision of service contracts and compliance with public law, federal and state regulations. Supervises contractors providing support in such areas as safety, security, office layout, maintenance and repair.

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a secret security clearance.
  • This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of up to 25% of the time.
  • This position is designated as "Emergency-Essential.
  • It takes precedence over any transportation agreement or military recall status and the incumbent must continue to perform the duties and requirements of the position in the event of a crisis situation.

OR Education: Ph.D or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree leading to a degree with engineering, industrial arts, property management, or business administration as the major field of study. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages.
