This HEALTH SYSTEMS SPECIALIST position, is located in the Medical Services function of an ANG Mission Support unit tasked to support one or more collocated group headquarters, squadrons, and/or flights. and is part of the CA 129 RQW.
Duties
THIS IS A T32 EXCEPTED SERVICE, INDEFINITE POSITION
Selectee may be non-competitively converted to permanent status if/when funding becomes available or position becomes unencumbered.
The primary purpose of the HEALTH SYSTEMS SPECIALIST, GS-0671-9, is to administer and provide limited health services and care, and identify, review, carry out, and coordinate projects and activities, to include special in-depth studies, on behalf of the medical commander to accomplish the day to day operations of the clinic. Provides supervision and training for assigned subordinates in carrying out the requirements of the clinic.
Qualifications
General Experience: Possess work that required a knowledge of the basic principles and practices related to the management of a health care delivery system; Such experience may have been gained as an administrative officer, management analyst, or administrative or clinical program manager or supervisor in a health care delivery system.
HEALTH SYSTEMS SPECIALIST, GS-0671-9: Must have at least one year of specialized experience, equivalent to at least the GS-07 level experience in one of the medical service core functions, which are prescribed as: Health facilities, health plan management, medical resources, health care information management and information technology, medical logistics, or medical readiness (including aeromedical evacuation); Experiences and knowledge in analyzing and recommending solutions to complicated problems; Experienced in developing and implementing various policies and procedures used in the state medical programs; Experienced in various administrative areas such as budget, personnel and public relations within a medical unit or medical activity.

Education
Substitution of Education for Specialized Experience:
An Undergraduate Degree in Health Administration, Health Care Administration (or equivalent), Health Care Management, Health Management and Policy, Health Services Administration (or equivalent), Hospital Administration (or equivalent), or related fields such as, Primary Care Management. Other completed degrees in Accounting, Business Administration, Business Management, Economics, Finance, Marketing, Statistics, Information Systems Management, Biomedical Engineering, Clinical Engineering and Health Management/Health Systems Engineering, Operations Research or other closely-related degree fields.
Or
A Graduate Degree in Health Administration, Health Care Administration (or equivalent), Health Care Management, Health Management and Policy, Health Services Administration (or equivalent), Hospital Administration (or equivalent), Accounting, Business Administration, Business Management, Economics, Finance, Marketing, Statistics, Information Systems Management, or other business-related equivalent.
