About the Position: Serves as a U.S. Army Medical Command (MEDCOM) Social Services Assistant in clinics or units providing assistance for the Family Advocacy Program.

Duties

Collaborates with a licensed clinical social worker in recommending treatment plans and provides case management services to include ensuring that an approved treatment plan approved is carried out by the client. Maintains close coordination with Service Member’s unit and monitors treatment participation and progress with designated treatment providers. Reports individual's treatment compliance and progress when case reviews are scheduled. Maintains appropriate case records according to standards of professional practice and in compliance with local regulations. Reviews Family Advocacy System of Records (FASOR) to determine whether there are previously recorded cases of child and/or spouse/intimate partner cases. Interviews clients to provide information about the Family Advocacy Program (FAP) and the incident determination process

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Public Law 101-647, Section 231, and Public Law 102-190, Section 1094, requires the successful completion of a criminal history background checks to serve in this position. (Also reference DODI 1402.5 AND AR 608-18).
  • This position requires an initial Childcare background investigation and periodic re-verification requirements since its duties require interaction with children and youth under the age of eighteen (18) years of age on a regular and recurring basis.
  • Incumbent is subject to central registry check (Department of Defense child and domestic abuse reporting system).
  • IAW AR 40-68, all Health Providers must possess and maintain a current Basic Life Support (BLS) training and certification from the American Heart Association or Military Training Network.
  • This position may require travel away from the duty station (TDY) up to 10% of the time. Work may occasionally require travel away from the normal duty station on military or commercial aircraft.
  • This position has a mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirement and is therefore subject to annual seasonal influenza vaccinations.
  • Applicants tentatively selected for appointment to this position will be required to sign a statement (Condition of Employment) consenting to seasonal influenza vaccinations.
  • May occasionally be required to work other than normal duty hours. This position may require incumbent to work on call during irregular work hours which may include evenings, weekends, holidays and/or varying work schedules.
