The Bureau of Labor Statistics measures labor market activity, working conditions, price changes, and productivity in the U.S. economy to support public and private decision making. This position is with the U.S. Department of Labor, Bureau of Labor Statistics, Office of Field Operations, Dallas Regional Office.

Duties

The position is responsible for managing a variety of administrative and program-related projects, and applying analytical techniques to a range of assignments that support data collection. Duties include but are not limited to: Develops procedures and systems for assessing the effectiveness of programs and processes and ensuring compliance with regional office and OFO strategic operations and objectives. Refines and develops more specific guidelines such as implementing regulations, or methods in order to measure and improve the effectiveness and productivity of programs and activities. Advises management on a variety of opportunities and options to increase organizational effectiveness which affects multiple levels of the organization. Oversees the maintenance of the regional Intranet. Oversees the testing of applications and their deployment, including coordination, communications, and training. Develops, analyzes, and evaluates policies, procedures, guidelines, and administrative processes. Recommends changes that will meet agency and regional initiatives/program goals and ensures compliance with current laws, regulations and policies. In coordination with OFO management and regional Program Managers, provides guidance and support to on-site contract staff in their contact with regional staff. Assures network services provided by contract staff support regional business requirements and makes recommendations to correct deficiencies when they occur.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 16 years old.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen.
  • Candidate required to obtain the necessary security/investigation level.
  • Requires a probationary period if the requirement has not been met.
  • Requires a valid driver's license.

Qualifications

You must meet the Specialized Experience to qualify for this position, as described below. For GS-12: Applicants must have 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level, GS-11, in the Federal Service. Specialized Experience is the experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSA's) to perform the duties of the position successfully, and that is typically in or related to the position to be filled. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the next lower grade level. Qualifying specialized experience for GS-12 includes: Managed a variety of administrative and program-related projects that includes analytical techniques to support a unit; Prepared reports, analysis, detailed action plans, and other written guidelines and recommendations for long and short-range project accomplishment; Provide information technology expertise to a variety of program and administrative areas that may include deployments, system expansions or updates and user support; and/or Provided management advisory services and formulates and implements administrative management policies, procedures, operations, goals, and objectives.
