You will serve as a SANITARIAN in the Preventative Medicine Department, Naval Medical Center San Diego of NMRTC SAN DIEGO CA.
Duties
You will provide independent and comprehensive Preventative Medicine services to all naval installations within the area of responsibility.
You will plan, schedule, and coordinate disease screening, surveillance, analysis, containment, reporting, and other epidemiologic procedures to meet public health needs.
You will investigate disease outbreaks to identify the source agent and provide countermeasures to decrease disease incidents.
You will coordinate and conduct activities associated with sexually transmitted disease controls such as conducting interviews, preparing epidemiological reports, and follow up investigations.
You will coordinate and assist with mass immunization efforts including influenza.

- Heaviest weight handled (without mechanical assistance) is approximately 45 pounds while transporting equipment or material to and from work locations.

- Good visual acuity and color perception are required.
Qualifications
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
Using a combination of health, agriculture, physical, and biological sciences and methods of public and environmental health to protect a specified group of, (e.g., Navy), personnel and their beneficiaries;
Working with changing public health laws, rules and regulations and be able to interpret their applicability to ensure compliance with federal and state requirements;
Planning and completing public health services for activities served;
Resolving conflicts that arise and coordinating the work with other individuals, agencies, and organizations, (e.g., commands), as necessary; AND
Performing onsite surveys both inside and outside health care areas where there is potential exposure to danger from disease producing microorganisms, toxic chemicals and ionizing and non-ionizing radiation.

SUBSTITUTION OF EDUCATION FOR EXPERIENCE FOR GS-11: Applicants may substitute the following education for the required experience,

Completion of all requirements for a doctoral degree (Ph.D., M.D., or equivalent)

Three "3" full academic years of progressively higher level graduate education.

COMBINATION OF EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Equivalent combinations of education and experience are qualifying for all grade levels for which both education and experience are acceptable.
