About the Position: This position is located with U.S. Army Sustainment Command, 406th Army Field Support Brigade, Logistics Readiness Center, at Fort Drum, NY.
Duties
Deploy as required in support of varied contingencies (humanitarian relief, exercises, national emergency, military operations, peace support operations, conflicts, war, or other similar events).
Serves as a Logistics Management Specialist (LMS) with the Army Sustainment Command (ASC) in the Support Operations (SPO), Installation Logistics Division (ILD).
Responsible for preparation of logistics operations, contingency, emergency and mobilizations plans for the serviced installation.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment
- This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter.
- This position requires the incumbent to possess, or obtain and maintain, a valid regular or official U.S. Passport.
- This position has a requirement to lift up to 40 lbs. in the regular performance of duties.
- This position may require temporary duty (TDY) of any length including 6 months in duration or longer in CONUS or OCONUS in austere locations.
- This position is designated as Emergency Essential (EE).
- Incumbent must successfully complete on-line computer based training and residential deployment training, as applicable.
- Incumbent will be required to participate in Army Power Projection Platform (AP3) operations as assigned.
- Incumbent will be required to obtain Global Combat Support System-Army (GCSS-A) certification.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/ or experience requirements described below. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: 1) Performing a wide range of logistics administrative duties; 2) Advising on logistics information system matters; 3) Providing guidance on supply and work order processes; 4) Monitoring purchase requests for the organization; and 5) Preparing reports for logistical briefings. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09).
OR
Education: Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: Logistics Management.
OR
Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages.

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-09).
