You will serve as an AUTOMOTIVE WORKER in the SOUTHWEST REGIONAL FLEET TRANSPORTATION DIVISION, MCB, CPe of MARINE CORPS BASE CAMP PENDLETON. This is a RE-ADVERTISEMENT of Announcement Number: ST-12587181-25-JRC. Applicants that have previously applied NEED to re-apply to this announcement.

Duties

You will check work orders to verify automotive repairs, modifications, or other actions have been accomplished. You will operate computerized engine analyzers to diagnose engine misfires You will adjust brakes, transmission linkages, engine idle, voltage and current control valves, sensing valves, expansion valves, or pressure regulator valves to maintain vehicles. You will certify automotive workmanship meets prescribed standards, specifications, or other required parameters. You will identify malfunctions or failure in wheel assemblies, springs, cooling systems, or fuel pumps by listening and performing visual checks. You will operate electronic test equipment (e.g., oscilloscopes, computer diagnostic scanners, electronic engines analyzers, opacity meter, dynamometers, dial indicators, micrometers, calipers) to diagnose vehicle problems.

Requirements

  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
  • Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.

  • Will be required to attend training and achieve certification as a Hazardous Materials Handler within 6 months from date of hire and be able to maintain that certification
  • You are required to posses your own tools common of the trade.
  • You will be required to posses and maintain a current valid United States Class C driver’s license.
  • This is a Bargaining Unit Position.
  • You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination

This job has a screen-out element which will be used to determine minimum eligibility for this job. The Screen-out Element for this position is: Ability to do the work of the position without more than normal supervision: Sample tasking include: automotive repair, diagnostics, troubleshooting, rebuilding, and maintenance of light, medium, and heavy motor transport equipment and vehicles.
