This position is located in the United States Department of Agriculture, Agricultural Research Service, Robert W Holley Center of Agriculture and Health in Ithaca, NY. In this position, you will plan, direct, and oversee the day-to-day operations of two facilities and the maintenance, remodeling, repair, and long-term functionality of their associated buildings, structures, and grounds.

Duties

Participate in strategic planning and provide recommendations and budget proposals regarding facility operations. Act as primary facilities contact in response to emergency notifications from fire and police regarding incidents after normal work hours when required. Analyze and diagnose building system problems as required for electrical, plumbing, heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems. Manage maintenance of facility records and documentation including drawings specifications, manuals, warranty information, and building modifications.

For this position, specialized experience is experience maintaining facility or property records or operations; ensuring compliance with safety standards or regulations; and managing contracts for construction, repair or maintenance projects. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.
