This vacancy is for a GS-0301-11, Command Center Watchstander located in the Department of Homeland Security, U.S. Coast Guard, SECTOR SOUTHEASTERN NEW ENGLAND COMMAND CENTER. Duty location will be determined upon selection.
Duties
You will serve as a Command Center Watchstander and be responsible for maintaining information management, situational awareness, and command and control over all Coast Guard operations in the Sector area of responsibility.
Qualifications
For the GS-11: Applicants must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-09 level in the Federal service. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work.
Examples of specialized experience include:
Developing responses to search and rescue (SAR) cases in order to minimize loss of life and property at sea.
Developing search action plans.
Writing final situation reports about search and rescue (SAR) cases.
Analyzing a variety of nautical data.
Operating a variety of surveillance sensors, communications, data processing, keyboard, and other electronic equipment and monitoring its operational status.
OR
At least one of the following if using education to qualify at this grade level:
(A) a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree
OR
(B) 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.M., if related.
OR
(C) A combination of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-09 level in or related to the work of this position AND education graduate level education that provided the specific knowledge, skills and abilities to
successfully perform the duties of this position and experience. Experience and education combinations are computed by first determining the total qualifying experience as a percentage of the experience required for the grade level; then determining the total of qualifying education as a percentage of the education required for the grade level; and then adding the two percentages. The total percentages must equal at least 100 percent to qualify at that grade level.

Education

College Transcript: If you are qualifying based on education, submit a copy of your college transcript that lists college courses detailing each course by the number and department (i.e., bio 101, math 210, etc.), course title, number of credit hours and grade earned. You must submit evidence that any education completed in a foreign institution is equivalent to U.S. education standards with your resume. You may submit an unofficial copy of the transcript at the initial phase of the application process. If course content cannot be easily identified from the title of the course as listed on your transcript, you must submit an official course description from the college/university that reflects the content at the time the course was taken.
