This vacancy is for a GS-1701-11, CDC Director located in the Department of Homeland Security, U.S. Coast Guard, Moral Welfare and Recreation Branch, Training Center (TRACEN), Petaluma, CA.
Duties
You will serve as a CDC Director and be responsible for the overall management of a Coast Guard child development center and function as the focal point for the child development services and family childcare programs.
Qualifications
EDUCATION: To be qualified applicants must meet the Basic Requirements of the position:Basic Requirements:
Degree: that included or was supplemented by major study in education or in a subject-matter field appropriate to the position such as child development or early childhood education.
OR
Combination of education and experience--courses equivalent to a major in education, or in a subject-matter field appropriate to the position, plus appropriate experience or additional course work that provided knowledge comparable to that normally acquired through the successful completion of the 4-year course of study described above.
In addition to the above, at the GS-11 level applicants must also meet the following:
To qualify for the GS-11 grade level, applicants must have at least one (1) full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-9 grade level in the federal sector. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work.
Specialized experience must include the following:
Managing the operation of a childcare center
Developing and implementing programs for center-based childcare services
Preparing an annual budget and funding request
Ensuring daily inspections are made to assure compliance with health, safety, fire, facility, and program requirements
Preparing requests for program data for transmittal to the program manager.
OR
3 years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. degree or Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree
