You will serve as a Lead Firefighter (BLS/Hazmat Tech) of NAS JRB FT WORTH.

Duties

You will perform an initial patient assessment in a medical emergency. You will prepare outlines for student firefighter training. You will brief fire investigation findings to senior leaders.

  • Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.

  • MSP/PPP applicants must currently hold the required security clearance.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-07 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Preparing reports concerning fire runs, training, maintenance, and inspections to keep supervisor informed; 2) Leading structural firefighting duties for facilities that include research and/or large industrial complexes; 3)Performing pre-fire planning by physically going through structures to become familiar with layout, fire hazards and location of fixed fire protection systems to maintain up to date knowledge for fighting structural fires; 4) Leading crash-rescue and firefighting duties involving air traffic and/or support operations where hazardous conditions are such that the expectancy for fire is high; 5) Driving/operating firefighting vehicles to include pumpers, aerial ladder truck, and Airport Rescue Fire Fighting vehicles considering factors such as wind direction, sources of water, hazards from falling structures, location of armament on aircraft to maintain safety of operations; 6) Surveying hazardous material incidents to identify materials involved, determine whether hazardous materials have been released and surrounds conditions to predict likely behavior of hazardous materials; and 7) Administering emergency medical care and preparing victims for transport to medical facilities. This position requires the incumbent to possess the following certifications: Firefighter I and II, Fire Officer I, Fire Instructor I, Fire Inspector I, Airport Firefighter, Driver Operator Pumper, Driver Operator (ARFF), Hazmat Tech. These certifications must have been awarded by DoD, IFSAC or ProBoard to meet the requirement. Also requires National Registry Emergency Medical Technician (NREMT).
