THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION. This National Guard position is for a AIRCRAFT SURVIVAL FLIGHT EQUIPMENT REPAIRER, Position Description Number D1992000 and is part of the PA Army Aviation Support Facility 2, National Guard. 1 or more Position(s) may be hired against this Announcement.

Duties

As an AIRCRAFT SURVIVAL FLIGHT EQUIPMENT REPAIRER, GS-4818-10, you will inspect, test, certify, repair, assemble and maintain ALSE to include aircraft/aircrew electronic communications equipment, and aircraft-oxygen related items, aircraft modular survival system, life preservers, helicopter emergency egress devices, first aid kits and microclimate cooling vests. Instruct crewmembers in all categories of ALSE. Certify initial and continuation training of aircrew and other personnel. Comply with safety, fire, security, and housekeeping regulations. Supervise, instruct, train and certify traditional Guard members on all facets of the aircrew life support career field; perform task evaluations and documents OJT records. Prepare for and participate in various types of readiness evaluations, inspections, mobilization and command support exercises. Prepare Annual Budget analysis and projections for ALSE shop operations. Perform other duties as assigned.

  • This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the employing state's National Guard, required prior to the effective date of placement.
  • Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform.

  • Applicants who are not currently a member of the National Guard must be eligible for immediate membership and employment in the National Guard in the military grade listed in this announcement.

APPOINTMENT STATUS: EXCEPTED This is a Dual Status Excepted Service Technician position in the Pennsylvania Army National Guard. AREA OF CONSIDERATION: Bargaining Position AOC 1: NG Employees at the Army Aviation Support Facility 2 AOC 2: NG Employees at the State Army Aviation Office (This includes AASF 1, AASF 2, and EAATS) AOC 3: NG Employees of the Pennsylvania National Guard AOC 4: All service members of the Pennsylvania National Guard (This includes Traditional Airmen, Temporary Technicians and AGR Personnel) Military Grades: WARRANT OFFICER: WO1-CW3 ENLISTED: E1-E9 Supervisor for this position is CW4 May GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Experience or training which demonstrates the applicants knowledge of materials and equipment used in the line of work (helmets, torso harness assemblies, parachutes, survival equipment). Ability to understand written instructions and to use reference materials and manuals. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Application must indicate experience or training which has demonstrated knowledge of aviation life support equipment. Experience reading and interpreting military manuals. Experience in supply procedures and property accountability. Experience collecting information and presenting it to various sized groups. Experience in planning a functional shop maintenance program is essential. QUALITY OF EXPERIENCE: Length of time is not of itself qualifying. Candidates' experience should be evaluated on the basis of duties performed rather than strictly on the rank of the individual; however, established compatibility criteria/assignments must be followed. The applicant's record of experience, training, and education must show possession of the knowledge, skills, and abilities needed to fully perform the duties of the position to be filled.
