About the Position: This Human Resources Assistant (Military) position is located with United States Army Cadet Command, 2nd Brigade at Clarkson University in Potsdam, New York.
Duties
Interpret and apply Department of Army, Training and Doctrine Command, and Cadet Command regulatory and policy guidance, University regulatory and policy guidance and previous precedent.
Prepare enrollment and contract documents for students enrolling in the basic and advanced courses to include requesting transcripts on new individuals interested in pursuing Reserve Officers' Training Corps.
Prepare Cadet Action packets for Cadets going to the Cadet Summer Training (CST).
Contact and coordinate with location National Guard and Reserve recruiters in the referral and placement of Cadets into National Guard or Army Reserve units as part of the Simultaneous Membership Program.
Monitor Cadet life cycle performance and academic transcripts, transfer of credit, GPA, Tuition and Fees, academic major, class rolls and student contact information to ensure continued compliance with eligibility and commissioning requirements.
fPrepare medical and personnel files for cadet attending Cadet Summer Training and Cadet Professional Development Training.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment.
- Business travel required 30% of the time/May require 6-12 weeks TDY in Support of Cadet Command Summer Training/ Employee required to attend Cadet Command Civilian Personnel Orientation (C3P0) training 3rd week from EOD at Fort Knox, Kentucky.
- May perform additional duties as the Unit Prevention Leader (UPL), which requires travel to conduct testing.
Qualifications

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes 1) operating automated systems to update personnel records; 2) administering personnel functions by providing services in support of personnel actions; AND 3) providing human resource personnel readiness such as in-processing and out-processing, maintaining travel and lodging arrangements, pay documents, prepare processing evaluations, awards, leave, and promotions. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07).

Education: One and a half years of graduate level education in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as Human Resources, etc.

Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond one year (total semester hours minus 18) by 9. Add the two percentages.
