The primary purpose of this position is: To manage and direct the Goodfellow AFB implementation of the Air Force Fitness Assessment Program (FAP) & Body Composition Program (BCP). Operates under the supervision of the Chief, Sustainment Services Flight providing interpretation of AF policy while implementing procedures for fitness & body composition assessments.
Duties
Plans, develops, and coordinates physical fitness testing schedules for all assigned military units, including geographically separated units that report to units under wing control.
Provides training to all Unit Fitness Assessment Cells (UFAC), Unit Fitness Program Managers (UFPM), and Physical Training Liaisons (PTLs) prior to administering fitness and body composition assessments.
Determines the adequacy of facilities and equipment for fitness assessments.
Performs annual Wing Inspector General inspections and staff assistance visits (SAV) to all Wing units, including geographically separated units (GSUs) in Monterey, CA, and Corry Naval Air Station, Pensacola, FL.
Distributes guidance and assistance to customers on fitness assessment (FA) and body composition assessment (BCA) policies and procedures, utilizing extensive knowledge of testing operations and support programs to answer customer-related questions.

Qualifications
In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Technical and Medical Support Positions, Recreation Aid and Assistant Series 0189.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-06, or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience includes extensive knowledge of a standardized body of rules, procedures, operations, and technology to perform the full scope of fitness testing and body composition assessment technician duties; Knowledge of automated systems such as myFitness Database, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft PowerPoint; Extensive knowledge of fitness equipment's functionality, set up, adjustment, and operating procedures. EDUCATION: One (1) full year of graduate education with courses related to recreation or physical education such as Sports Management or Sports Science. Education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities to do the work of this position. NOTE: You must submit a copy of your transcripts.

COMBINATION OF EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. NOTE: You must submit a copy of your transcripts.
FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-06 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-07 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks. NOTE: Applicants applying as VEOA candidates who are current GS civil service employees or are prior GS civil service employees within the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:
1. Knowledge of physiology and exercise techniques sufficient to conduct a physical fitness testing and body composition programs to include monitoring and developing personalized assessments techniques and improvement plans in accordance with American College of Sports Medicine. Nationally recognized certification from an accredited program is highly recommended. Must be trained and certified in CPR and AED.
2. Knowledge of Department of Defense/Air Force standards, policies, terminology, abbreviations, and techniques.
3. Knowledge of CE, COMM, Fire, Safety and Wing Plans requirements, both real world and military exercise conditions.
4. Skill of various office automation software programs, tools, and techniques to support office and facility operations. Produce a variety of documents such as, reports, memorandums, spreadsheets, databases and graphs. Highly proficient in Microsoft office programs to include word, excel and power point.
5. Skill in administering cardiovascular endurance strength, and body composition assessments. Ability to assess client fitness results to determine appropriate follow-up care.
6. Skill of computer hardware/software systems and their interfaces. Ability to analyze software/hardware problems and develop economical solutions. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. Ability to train patrons in large groups and/or brief groups from a wide variety of backgrounds.
PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
