This position is located in the Refugee, Asylum and International Operations Directorate; Statelessness, TRIG, and Research Division; Terrorism-Related Inadmissibility Grounds (TRIG) Branch.
As an Adjudication Officer, you will serve as a subject matter expert on complex adjudications, act as an intra-agency liaison and coordinate with inter-agency partners, conduct training and high-level research, and draft work products relating to Terrorism-Related Inadmissibility Grounds.
Duties
The responsibilities described are for the full performance level. At developmental grade levels, assignments will be of more limited scope performed with less independence, and limited complexity.
Assist in the overall administration and technical direction of terrorism-related inadmissibility matters within USCIS.
Implement and manage quality assurance and case review procedures and methodologies related to adjudications on terrorism-related inadmissibility grounds across agency directorates.
Draft memoranda, reports, and communications regarding terrorism-related laws and administrative/judicial decisions, and serve as a liaison in inter-agency meetings.
Conduct and manage research initiatives across directorates, including a variety of work products for adjudicators on terrorism-related inadmissibilities.
Develop, conduct, and present training on complex matters concerning the terrorism-related inadmissibility grounds.
Qualifications
The qualifications for this position must be met by 11:59 PM (Eastern Time) on 12/27/2024.
Current Federal employees must have served 52 weeks at the lower grade or equivalent grade band in the Federal service. The Time-in-Grade requirement must be met by 11:59 PM (Eastern Time) on 12/27/2024.
GS-13: You qualify at the GS-13 level if you possess one (1) year of specialized experience, which is equivalent to at least the GS-12 level in the federal government, that equipped you with the skills needed to successfully perform the duties of the position. You must have experience performing the following duties:
Providing input and support on national security-related matters for immigration cases.
Applying immigration statutory provisions, regulations, and procedures to make final determinations on immigration applications/petitions.
Making final determinations on difficult and sensitive immigration applications involving terrorism-related inadmissibility grounds.
Formulating findings, conclusions, and recommendations and presenting them in written and oral form.
GS-14: You qualify at the GS-14 level if you possess one (1) year of specialized experience, which is equivalent to at least the GS-13 level in the federal government, that equipped you with the skills needed to successfully perform the duties of the position. You must have experience performing the following duties:
Providing expert direction and support on national security-related matters for immigration cases.
Applying immigration statutory provisions, regulations, and procedures to make final determinations on immigration applications/petitions.
Making final determinations on difficult and sensitive immigration applications involving terrorism-related inadmissibility grounds.
Analyzing, researching, and developing work products on the terrorism-related inadmissibility grounds.
Leading, conducting, and presenting complex and time-sensitive management studies and reviews in written format and verbally to various audiences to include agency leadership and other federal departments or agencies.

Education
EDUCATIONAL SUBSTITUTION: There is no educational substitution at these grade levels.
If you have not already done so, you will be required to attend and complete a USCIS Officer training course. This is typically provided through a blended approach of virtual instruction followed by in-residence instruction at a training venue. Training must be successfully completed according to the standards of the agency. Failure to do so will be grounds for mandatory removal from the position. Such failure will result in either reassignment to a different position, demotion or separation by appropriate procedures.
