About the Position: Fort Cavazos rests in the beautiful 'hill and lake' country of Central Texas between Killeen and Copperas Cove and is approximately 60 miles north of the capital city of Austin.

Duties

Independently ensures the reliability and consistency of construction by following the 3-phase inspection process for all construction contracts assigned. Reviews developed scopes, drawings and technical specifications to ensure constructability. Exercises initiative, creativity, and judgment in determining detailed procedures and methods to be used, information required, and available sources from which to obtain guidance. Maintains all construction inspection reports, construction schedules, testing reports, payment request, and other key documentation for contract file. Ensures all documentation submitted by the contractor complies with the contract for approval and Federal Acquisition Regulation. Conducts feasibility studies on various systems, i.e., roofing, walls, flooring, doors, windows and interior and exterior surfaces of structures, to determine the most economical, while maintaining quality. Discusses plans and specifications with contractors, designers, and shop personnel, rendering interpretation and technical assistance as the need arises.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Incumbent is required to submit a Confidential Financial Disclosure Report, OGE-450, (5CFR Part 2634, Subpart I Confidential Financial Disclosure Reports) upon entering the position and annually.
  • A one year probationary period may be required.
