The primary responsibilities of this position include responsibility for a wide range of duties as a member of interdisciplinary teams or as a single resource to analyze proposed land management resource plan direction and/or proposed natural resource management projects.

Duties
Evaluate environmental analysis reports to ensure projects meet the intent of the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA).
Coordinate with staff to develop scenic character descriptions, goals and scenic integrity objectives.
Develop solutions to augment the workforce to accomplish the program of work.
Monitor progress reports to ensure projects remain on track.
Requirements
- Must be a U.S. Citizen or National.

Qualifications

Basic Requirement:
GS-0807:
1. Degree: Successful completion of a full 4-year course of study in an accredited college or university leading to a bachelor's or higher degree in landscape architecture or landscape design.
OR
2. Combination of education and experience-For each year short of graduation, the applicant must have had 1 year of experience under professional leadership and guidance of such character and diversity as to be a satisfactory substitute for the required education. This experience must have included original landscape design.
In addition to meeting the basic requirement, you must also possess experience and/or directly related education in the amounts listed below.
Specialized Experience Requirement:
For the GS-12: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 in the Federal service. Specialized experience is defined as three or more of the following: Serving as the recreation and scenery resource specialist on multidisciplinary teams for a variety of resource management activities such as recreation planning, forest restoration, wilderness and wild scenic river planning; AND/OR Preparing or reviewing site analyses, recreation and scenic resource specialist reports including design features, proposed mitigation measures and visual simulations; AND/OR Participating in the development of land and management plans related to recreation, scenery and related resources; AND/OR Designing a variety of moderately to highly complex recreational facilities, using computer-assisted design technology.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
TIME IN GRADE REQUIREMENT: If you are a current federal employee in the General Schedule (GS) pay plan and applying for a promotion opportunity, you must meet time-in-grade (TIG) requirements of 52 weeks of service at the next lower grade level in the normal line of progression for the position being filled. This requirement must be met by the closing date of this announcement.
