As the CBOC/UCC Assistant Nurse Manager you will support staff development through remediation, mentoring, certification, and product roll-outs. Lead and/or actively participate in committees, workgroups, teams and/or projects related to process improvement, staff development, training and education.
Duties

Leads and/or actively participates on committees, workgroups, teams and/or projects related to process improvement, staff development, training and education
Timely preparation and delivery of performance evaluations and annual proficiency ratings
Safe and equitable scheduling practices and time card maintenance, including but not limited to ensuring appropriate staffing, approving leave in GovTA, entering schedules and time card certification
Responsible for processing and delivering progressive discipline when necessary
Identification of educational opportunities and in collaboration with clinical coach.
Collaboration with all disciplines to provide safe and effective care to the Veterans to include participation in the interdisciplinary team
Provide a work environment that promotes safety for patients and staff in line with a High Reliability Organization
Abide by MCP's, policies, standard processes, SOW's, and SOP's
Interview, screen, hire, and onboard new staff members as needs arise
Assess staffing needs and collaborate with staff in development of the clinic's staffing methodology, complete daily nursing assignments and maintain records, and provide clinic coverage as needed
In line with Pathways to Excellence, provide a work environment for staff that promotes teamwork, professional growth and development and engagement in the clinic
Maintains current clinical competencies and TMS as assigned
Ensure that all staff maintain current clinical competencies and TMS as assigned
Employee occupational health duties
Perform random chart audits for nursing staff
Ensure completion of all documentation and Message Manager daily
Perform daily huddle with assigned clinic(s)
Provides coverage as needed for both RN's and LVN's clinically in Clovis, Childress, and Dalhart
Cover Nurse manger duties as needed
Actively communicates with others about how planned changes may affect their work
Help staff understand how their role relates to and compliments the overall mission of the organization

Point of contact and liaison between the primary service (Amarillo/Lubbock) and the CBOC

Ensures timeliness in addressing concerns and complaints of both staff and Veterans
Maintains an open-door policy including open lines of communication
Communicates needs, requests, concerns, etc. timely to appropriate department or supervisor including follow up communication with all parties
Adheres to and ensures staff adherence to PACT nursing standing delegation orders and PACT roles and responsibilities
Performs phlebotomy and processes specimens appropriately
Follows scheduling directive and completes scheduling duties as instructed
Orders supplies and medications as directed by managing services
Ensures clinic remains compliant with Joint Commission standards

Qualifications
Basic Requirements:
English Language Proficiency. In accordance with 38 U.S.C. 7403(f), no person shall serve in direct patient care positions unless they are proficient in basic written and spoken English.
Graduate of a school of professional nursing approved by the appropriate accrediting agency and accredited by one of the following accrediting bodies at the time the program was completed by the applicant: The Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) or The Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE); OR Individuals attending a master's level bridge program in nursing who have completed coursework equivalent to a bachelor's level degree in Nursing may have opportunity to become registered as a nurse with a state licensing board prior to completion of the bridge program. Upon achievement of a State license, the individual may be appointed on temporary basis and later converted to a permanent appointment upon successful completion and graduation from the bridge program. (Reference VA Handbook 5005, Appendix G6); OR In cases of graduates of foreign schools of professional nursing, possession of a current, full, active, and unrestricted registration will meet the requirement for graduation from an approved school of professional nursing to warrant an appointment as a Nurse who has completed an associated degree/entry level Nursing education program. Credit for foreign nursing education higher that associate degree/entry level requires a formal degree equivalency validation from a recognized equivalency evaluation accepted by VA such as International Consultants of Delaware (ICD).
Current, full, active, and unrestricted registration as a graduate professional nurse in a State, Territory or Commonwealth (i.e., Puerto Rico) of the United States, or the District of Columbia. Graduate Nurse Technician (GNT) Exception: Candidates who otherwise meet the basic education requirements, but do not possess the required licensure, may be appointed at the entry step of the grade and level applicable to the completed nursing education as a GNT on a 120-day temporary appointment while actively pursuing licensure (may be extended up to two years on a case-by-case-basis.)
NOTE: Grandfathering Provision - All persons currently employed in VHA in 0610 series and performing the duties as described in the qualification standard on the effective date of the standard (1/29/2024) are considered to have met all qualification requirements for the grade held including positive education and licensure/certification.

Physical Requirements: The position requires moderate lifting and carrying (15-44 pounds), straight pulling (1 hour), pushing (1 hour), reaching above shoulder, use of fingers, both hands required, walking (6 hours), standing (3 hours), kneeling (0.5 hours), repeated bending (1 hour), depth perception, ability to distinguish basic colors, and hearing (aid permitted).
