About the Position: The position works for the Chief of Training, Army Medical Department Center of Excellence(MEDCoE) ACSOPS G-3/5/7. Performs staff administrative control duties involved in the planning, development, interpretation, and implementation of policies, directives and procedural requirements of the Army Schools Program to provide for individual development and attainment of Military Occupational Specialty (MOS) and functional proficiency in a wide variety of occupational.

Duties

Plan, organize, and direct the functional activities of the Army Medical Department Center and School section. Work with subordinate units and the installation Schools Manager to determine requirements, schedules classes, program input, allocates quotas, and performs administrative and support functions for organization training programs and course. Interpret, implement/supplement and carry out School policies as set forth by this and higher headquarters, insuring that the School Program is effectively planned and accomplished Develop, prepare, and justify/defend budget estimates to fund TDY travel, per diem, and tuition costs to support the military training portion of the Army schools program. Attend periodic conferences sponsored by Installation, TRADOC, MEDCOM, and Regional Health Commands and Major Subordinate Commands (RHCs/MSCs) to discuss schools issues.

Requirements

  • This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.
  • This position requires shift work to provide coverage on evenings, weekends, holidays, or special situations. Employee shifts are rotated on a regularly scheduled basis.
  • This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement outside the local commuting area.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes experience in performing administrative duties involved in the planning, development, interpretation, and implementation of policies, directives and procedural requirements of training programs; experience in developing reports to analyze training programs and to inform organizational leadership on training status; and experience in establishing workflow methods and procedures to meet training objectives and to set work priorities. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07). OR Education: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: Business Administration or Training. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 18. Add the two percentages. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Decision SupportOral CommunicationOrganizational Awareness Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-07).
