About the Position: Incumbent serves as the Mobile Equipment Operator Supervisor and versees the work of 4 WG-10 Heavy Mobile Equipment Operators, 1 WG-10 Entomologist, 1 WG-9 Entomologist, 3 WG-8 Mobile Equipment Operators and 4 WG-7 Tractor Operators..

Duties

As a Mobile Equipment Operator Supervisor, you will perform duties to include but not limited to the following: Exercise full supervisory responsibility for control over work operations which include tree maintenance, grounds maintenance, roads maintenance, entomology services and refuse collection. Plan weekly or monthly work schedules and sequence of operations for subordinates. Develop immediate and long-range landscape plan. Identify, justify and program equipment and materials (seed, fertilizer, etc.) requirements. Explain work requirements, methods and procedures, instruct subordinates in new procedures, and provide advice when problems arise. Prepare performance standards, and make formal and informal performance appraisals. Counsel employees on problems; adjust informal complaints through discussion with employees and union representatives.

Requirements

  • The incumbent is subject to recall during off-duty hours, to include weekends and holidays, for mission requirements.
  • This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 5% of the time. Are you willing and able to travel away from your permanent duty station up to 5% of the time?
  • This position is subject to a pre-employment drug testing screening, and random testing thereafter.
  • Must possess and/ or maintain a valid state Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with class A endorsement.
  • A pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure fitness to perform the duties of the position.
  • Must possess or obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment.
  • This position has a requirement to lift 45 lbs. and over in th regular performance of duties.
  • This position may require unscheduled and/or irregular duty hours which may include evenings, weekends and holidays in support of mission requirements.
  • This position has been designated as an Inclement Weather Essential position. The incumbent is required to report to work or remain at work as scheduled to support mission operations.
  • A pre-employment drug screening and random testing thereafter to to include testing based on reasonable suspicion and testing due to direct involvement with an on-duty accident.
  • Heavy physical effort is required by the operator in constantly reaching, bending, turning and moving hands, arms, feet and legs. Incumbent is subject to constant vibration of equipment and jerking and jolting from operating over rough surfaces.
  • Work is performed outside in all types of weather. The Incumbent is subject to noise, dust, dirt and fumes; danger of injury as a result of equipment overturning; and danger of cuts from equipment when changing assignments.

There is dust and dirt when maintaining grounds and pavements. Injuries may occur from falls from ladders, mowers, chain/pavement saws, etc.
