This position is located in the Pacific Northwest Region, Region 6 on the MT. Baker Snoqualmie National Forest.
The incumbent serves as a Recreation Technician on a Forest Service unit performing work in support of the unit's recreation program, with resonsibility for operating and maintaining the district's recreation complex.

Duties
Provides necessary information pertaining to mineral activity on the district for forest database, inventory, and GIS management.
Collects and properly documents field data. Performs water quality monitoring and sampling to standard as directed by the Forest Geologist.
Performs field inspections to ensure ground activities are in compliance with approved plan of operations.
Makes periodic inspections or applicable construction projects to determine if changes are needed or other action is necessary.
Prepares annual work plans in support of Special Uses Program.
Is immediately involved in the decision making and planning process and provides direction to the program.
Corrects deficiencies when found and keeps District Resource Officer informed.
Is responsible for internal coordination and review of permits and other lands and recreation proposals.
Requirements

Qualifications

Specialized Experience Requirement:
For the GS06: One year of specialized experience equivalent to GS-06. Examples include: Planned and implemented the logistics required for completion of recreation projects, such as trail maintenance and reconstruction projects; performed site maintenance, including cleanup and naturalizing at widely dispersed sites; lead or coordinate a small crew of volunteers to accomplish recreation maintenance and construction projects; patrol forest areas to enforce federal regulations and assist with the enforcement of off-road vehicle restrictions. Worked as a Forest Protection Officer (FPO) or similar; writing incident reports or violation notices as needed; providing input for special recreation permits and on occasion monitoring special recreation events for compliance to permit stipulations; developing restoration projects; and participating in recreation plan development.
For the GS-07: One year of specialized experience equivalent to GS-06. Examples include: Serving as the point of contact with community organizations and interest groups to generate utilization of forest recreation facilities; assisting in the development of plans for recreation area maintenance, rehabilitation, reconstruction, and construction projects in accordance with program management objectives and policies; serving as an inspector and/or contracting officer's representative on service contracts insuring work is completed properly; and participating in all aspects of Special Use Permit administration for activities within undeveloped and developed areas of the unit.
For the GS-08: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-07. Examples Include: Assisting in conducting compliance reviews for special use permits; reviewing routine permit applications to prepare and issue draft/final/modified permits, facts and public notices; inspecting applicable construction projects to determine if changes are needed or other action is necessary; and preparing applicable recreation resource documents.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

TIME IN GRADE REQUIREMENT: If you are a current federal employee in the General Schedule (GS) pay plan and applying for a promotion opportunity, you must meet time-in-grade (TIG) requirements of 52 weeks of service at the next lower grade level in the normal line of progression for the position being filled. This requirement must be met by the closing date of this announcement.
Education
There is no substitution of education for specialized experience.
