About the Position: Works under supervision of Command Historian of the U.S. Army Tank-automotive and Armaments Command (TACOM), who establishes policy and programs, outlines the scope and objectives of projects assigned, and provides administrative and professional guidance.

Duties

Assists in the development and management of the command military history program IAW AR 870-5, providing a range of professional historical services. Develops and implements policy and office procedure for the history program, such as command-wide records collection policy, and archival and historiographical technical standards and processes. Conducts historical research, critically evaluates primary sources and historical evidence, conducts oral history interviews, and aids in production of the annual command history, transcripts, and other historiographical products. Manages data and data systems, finding aids, catalogs, digital archives, digitized collections, and historical reference collections in accordance with professional standards. Assists in management, preservation, and development of research archives in accordance with professional archival methods and best practices, standards, laws, and regulations. Processes archival materials in all analog and digital formats, including accessioning, arrangement, description, preservation, conservation, and digitization. Provides training and education to other command personnel on matters related to history and archival preservation. Responds to inquiries to the History Office in accordance with Army regulations.

  • This position has an Analyzer Certification requirement. The incumbent must meet all requirements for D and A Level 2 certification within 24 months of being placed on the position.
  • This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.
