You will serve as an ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION SPECIALIST in the ENVIRONMENTAL DIVISION of NAVFAC SOUTHWEST.
Duties
You will advise on environmental compliance processes and equipment devices to mitigate and eliminate environmental impacts.
You will disseminate updated information about environmental and hazard substances to managers and personnel.
You will conduct environmental inspection and acceptance of work based on compliance with contract provisions, codes, and regulations.
You will coordinate the preparation of requests to abate pollution sources to minimize or eliminate environmental liabilities.
You will establish goals, objectives, or operating plans to maintain compliance with environmental regulations.
Requirements

- This is a bargaining unit position.
- You will be required to complete training, obtain, and maintain a government credit card for travel and travel-related purchases.
- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
- You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
- You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes as necessary during field visits.
Qualifications
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Implementing processes to solve problems for environmental media; 2) Applying knowledge of various environmental laws, regulations, and standards to support customer, program, and regulatory requirements; 3) Providing products and services for various environmental media (i.e. hazardous waste, wastewater, storm water, etc.); and 4) Communicating in order to clarify, interpret, and advise on environmental laws, regulations, policies, and guidance.
