Duties

Set up road blocks, traffic-control points, and directs traffic. Conduct traffic law enforcement patrol using specialized equipment such as radar, Lidar and breathalyzer. Appear in court to testify as required in Military Court Martials or Federal and State Court proceedings. Respond to and investigates emergency calls, complaints and other calls for service. Prepare detailed written statements or reports to be used to support court testimony.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation. A Secret Clearance is required
  • Successfully graduated from the United States Army Civilian Police Academy, unless incumbent has a current approved waiver from the Office of the Provost Marshal General.
  • Successfully pass training, certification and qualification requirements related to law enforcement. These include, but not limited to: weapons qualifications, first aid/CPR and National Incident Management System (NIMS) training requirements.
  • Meet the requirements of AR 190-56: pass a pre-employment and recurring medical / psychiatric evaluation; Pass a Physical Agility Test (PAT) within 30 days of hire and annually; maintain the requirements of the Individual Reliability Program (IRP).
  • This is a Testing Designated Position (TDP) and is covered by the Alcohol and Drug Abuse Prevention and Control Program.
  • The 1996 Lautenberg Amendment to the Gun Control Act of 1968 covers this position.
  • Incumbent in this position is designated as Mission Essential (IAW DODI 3024.42 and DTM 17-004) position during Inclement Weather Conditions or other designed/identified emergency conditions.
  • The duties of this position require the incumbent to possess or obtain and maintain a valid state Driver's License in one of the 50 U.S. states or possessions to operate vehicles.
  • Hours of work is subject to irregular and/or rotating shifts, evenings, nights, weekends and holidays. Incumbent is required to work overtime as directed and is subject to recall for emergency overtime.
  • Official Temporary Duty (TDY) up to 5% of the time may be required.
  • Appointment to this position is subject to a one year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315. While probationary the incumbent can be terminated with limited appeal rights.
  • Incumbent is subject to possible civil action due to improper exercises of authority or injudicious use of force in the apprehension or detention of individuals.
