As a Supervisory Attorney-Examiner (Civil Rights) at the GS-0905-14, you will be part of Hearings Unit, Dallas District Office, Equal Employment Opportunity Commission. If selected, you will serve as a Hearings Unit Supervisor and provides guidance and direction to administrative judges, paralegals, and other staff including supporting clerical staff.
Duties
Responsible for handling complex cases, including the preparation of findings and submission of recommendations for appropriate action,
Develops, administers, coordinates and evaluates cases filed by federal employees who have requested a hearing in discrimination complaints.
Makes rulings on relevance of witnesses and the collection of information concerning the cases. Attends meetings and conferences with legal representative particularly in class cases.
Analyzes factual and legal issues, hearing evidence, ask legal fact- finding questions and review the entire case prior to making findings and recommendations to the agency.
Reviews reports, exhibits and local memoranda (investigative file) to assure case charges are adequate for a hearing.
Responsible for ensuring the timely and effective processing of all Federal Sector discrimination complaints within the district, from initial receipt and docketing to assignment and final resolution.
Requirements

- Suitable for Federal employment, determined by a background investigation
- May be required to successfully complete a probationary period
- Must have an Active BAR Membership in Good Standing. If selected, must maintain active bar membership in good standing while employed as an attorney with EEOC
- This position is in the Excepted Service
Qualifications
For the GS-14: You must have earned a professional law degree (J.D. or LL.B.) from a law school accredited by the American Bar Association, be an active member of the BAR, and have three years of professional legal experience with at least one year being equivalent to the GS-13 level.
Professional legal education above the first professional law degree may be substituted for experience required as follows:(a) The second professional law degree (LL.M) may be substituted for one year of experience (b) The third law degree (J.S.D) may be substituted for one year of experience beyond the LL.M.
