Duties
Perform a variety of administrative and technical support functions in the areas of personnel, pay system cycle updates, budget, supply, travel, and training.
Develops user instructions and provides training to personnel. Identifies inconsistencies, verifies computations, and returns obvious errors with recommendations for corrective action. Research regulations and procedures.
Coordinates access requirements for various administrative systems (i.e. timekeeping, travel, living disaster recovery planning, etc,) and movement of personnel within the office.
Uses office automation equipment and software to consolidate, prepare, and edit various reports ensuring accuracy of spelling, punctuation, grammar, and format.
Performs a wide variety of recordkeeping and reporting. Consolidates, prepares, and edits various reports/charts. Collects, compiles and records data for preparation of budgets.
Consolidates information and data received for budget submitted, prepares budget reviews, and monitors and assists in the preparation of budget estimates.
Receives visitors and telephone calls, determines the identity of the caller, the nature of their business, and refers the call to the appropriate staff member.

Qualifications
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE FOR THE GS-05:
One year of specialized experience equivalent in level of difficulty and responsibility to that of the next lower grade (GS-04) within the federal service, which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position, is required. Specialized experience is defined as performing a variety of administrative support functions which includes providing administrative, technical and general office support duties to an organization; providing support and assistance on personnel, supply, training, and budget reporting and processes; utilizing office automation to create, retrieve, update, manipulate and store electronic data; and preparing, editing and formatting documents and reports.
Volunteer Experience: Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
Time In Grade: Current or former federal employees who have held a GS position in the preceding 52 weeks, must meet the time in grade requirement. To be considered for the GS-05, applicants must have served 52 weeks as a GS-04 or higher in the Federal service.
You may qualify for consideration if meeting time-in grade, specialized experience, education requirement, 90 days after competitive appointment requirement, and all other qualification requirements within 30 calendar days after the closing date of the announcement, unless otherwise indicated on the announcement.

Substitution of Education for Experience for GS-05:
Four years of successfully completed education above the high school level
in any field for which high school graduation, or the equivalent, is a prerequisite may be substituted to meet the specialized experience required. Equivalent combinations of successfully completed post-high school education and experience may be used to meet total experience requirements.
