This position is located in the Department of Homeland Security, US Coast Guard, YARD, Industrial Department, Electro Group in Baltimore, MD.
Duties
You will perform and lead a small group, all kinds of ordnance equipment tasks involved in the construction, repair, maintenance, overhaul and conversion of a wide variety of types and sizes of marine craft and vessels in connection with miscellaneous manufacturing projects performed at the Yard.
Qualifications
Applicants will be evaluated on their ability to perform the duties of the position rather than the length of experience. Eligibility will be determined by the relevance, scope, and quality of all experience and training, regardless of where or how acquired.
Applicants will be rated and ranked based on their knowledge of the following job elements:
1. Ability to lead (SCREENOUT)
2. Knowledge of equipment, assembly, installation, repair, etc.
3. Technical practices (theoretical, precise, artistic)
4. Use of measuring instruments
5. Ability to interpret instructions, specifications, etc. (includes blueprint reading)
6. Ability to use and maintain tools and equipment
7. Troubleshooting

Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
The Office of Personnel management (OPM) must authorize employment offers made to current or former political appointees.
