The typical seasonal entry-on-duty period is April through June but can be variable during these months due to weather conditions, project needs, or funding. Anticipated Entry on Duty: April 2025. Must possess and maintain a current Class B or higher Commercial Driver's License, with Air Brakes endorsement by the closing date of this announcement.

Duties

Duty Locations: Great Basin National Park, NV Lake Roosevelt National Recreation Area, WA Mount Rainier National Park, WA Independently operates motor vehicles including straight-in-line trucks which typically have an approximate GVWR of more the 32,000 pounds, or truck tractors with semi-trailers or full trailers. Vehicles operated may include snowplow trucks, platform trucks, stake trucks, dump trucks, or trash removal trucks. Vehicles are operated on interstate highways, winding roads, and steep grades. Manipulate dual braking system to prevent the semi-trailer or trailer from jackknifing. Maneuver vehicles within close tolerances when driving and backing over uneven ground and in narrow or congested areas, and between buildings and other vehicles. Select the safest, most direct, and legally allowed route to be followed, and identifies alternative routes if emergency situations arise. Perform operator maintenance on all vehicles operated including fluid levels, lights, brakes and operational procedures, greasing moving parts, changing oil, fuel and air filters, cleaning and washing vehicles, and minor repairs. Maintain records of vehicle service. Additional duties include: washing vehicles and equipment; cleaning curb gutters with push hand brooms, wheelbarrows, shovels, and rakes; loading and unloading supplies by hand or with forklifts or loader; operating chain saw to remove debris; repairing road shoulders and gutter ditches by placing materials by hand; repairing trails by erecting signs and numbers; and cutting grass by hand, or by use of a riding mower. You must possess and maintain a current Class B or higher Commercial Driver's License, with Air Brakes endorsement by the closing date of this announcement. Physical Effort: Moderate to heavy physical effort in climbing on tractors to hook up service lines, lower landing gears, and in climbing on the trailer to load or tie down cargo. Considerable physical effort may be required in backing of vehicles, to change tires, and make limited emergency repairs. Required to frequently lift items weighing over 50 pounds. Climbing of ladders, scaffolding, and working in and around equipment and power tools. Working Conditions: Majority of the work is performed outdoors where incumbent will be exposed to extreme hot and cold temperatures. Required to operate equipment in all types of weather conditions and on a variety of road surfaces. Subject to noise, vibration and exhaust fumes from equipment and vehicles, and is exposed to the danger of serious accidents. Qualifications

Ability To Do The Work Of The Position Without More Than Normal Supervision (SCREEN OUT). This includes a work history operating at least 2 types of engineering equipment (small pneumatic rollers, sweeper/vacuum trucks, forklifts, tool-cats, skid steer loaders) OR trucks 26,000 GVW up to 33,000 GVW and more to excavate, backfill, grade, or level earth. Experience performing road work on paved and unpaved roads with muddy or slick road conditions. Experience performing general maintenance on motor vehicles.
