Duties

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING DAY TO DAY As a Transportation Specialist, you will use your knowledge of and experience with the Administration for Strategic Preparedness and Response (ASPR) to optimize business results and customer experience by: Reviewing analyses of transportation functional and operational requirements to help determine the development work to be contracted out. Participating in training exercises conducted with participants from the Department of Defense, Department of Transportation, other Federal agencies, State and local governments, and private industry. Participating in the evaluation of the exercises for compliance in meeting strategic goals and objectives to support mission requirements and provides recommendations for improvement. Reviewing and recommending for approval major sections of the functional descriptions and statements of work which will be submitted to contractors performing tasks for the Distribution Management Division. Serving as a Contracting Officer's Representative (COR) for large commercial contracts. Communicating transportation data and information to higher organizational levels within the agency, and to other agencies outside the agency.

Qualifications

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR Basic Qualifications: Education Undergraduate and Graduate Education: Major study - accounting, business administration, business or commercial law, commerce, economics, engineering, finance, industrial management, statistics, traffic management, transportation, motor mechanics, or other fields related to the position. OR Experience that demonstrated a knowledge of the transportation function(s) of the position to be filled. Minimum Qualifications: You must have one year specialized experience to perform successfully the duties of the position. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service performing at least 2 of the 4 following: 1. Participating in the development of transportation plans or policy to facilitate the transportation of assets. 2. Interpreting and applying transportation and vehicle control practices. 3. Identifying deficiencies, prepare written reports, and present findings to internal and external stakeholders. 4. Applying knowledge of safety requirements associated with transporting hazardous materials. Documenting experience: IN DESCRIBING YOUR EXPERIENCE, PLEASE BE CLEAR AND SPECIFIC. If such experience is on a part-time basis, you must provide the average number of hours worked per week as well as the beginning and ending dates of the experience so it can be fully credited.
