You will serve as an EDUCATION SERVICES SPECIALIST in the NAV RECRUITING DISTRICT SAN FRAN.in El Segundo, CA.
Duties
You will establish liaison with education officials and employment representatives to raise awareness of Navy occupational programs and to promote the Navy as a career option for the civilian community.
You will facilitate recruiter access to high schools and post-secondary institutions by accompanying them on visits whenever possible.
You will organize Educator Orientation Visits for District educators, which includes planning and arranging itineraries, coordinating attendance, arranging transportation, and maintaining records of receipts and expenses.
You will maintain detailed records of all schools served to include status of accessibility, directory information acquisition, ASVAB scheduling and testing, dates of recent visits and POC contact information.
You will provide orientation and training to Navy Recruiting personnel on alternative education credential certification and verification process, school access, directory information, use of school folders, and Center of Influence projects.
Requirements

- You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
- You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver’s license. Extensive automobile travel is required.
- You will be required to complete training, obtain, and maintain a government credit card for travel and travel-related purchases.
- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
Qualifications
In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Advising personnel on education theories, principles, procedures and practices of secondary, post-secondary, adult, alternative non-traditional, vocational and continuing education; 2) Promoting education and training program by incorporating career information at meetings, conventions, and conferences; 3) Interpreting Armed Service Vocational Aptitude Battery (ASVAB) test results to aid in student career decision-making processes; and 4) Monitoring budget in support of education services programs.

Must posses -
A degree that included or was supplemented by at least 24 semester hours appropriate to the position to be filled in one or a combination of the areas described below. At least one course must have been from (1) or (2) below. For guidance counselor positions, a college or university-sponsored practicum in counseling is also required.
- Tests and measurement: Study of the selection, evaluation, administration, scoring, interpretation, and uses of group and individual aptitude, proficiency, interest, and other tests.
- Adult education: Study of the adult as a learner, teaching-learning theories for adults, models and procedures for planning, designing, managing, and evaluating adult learning activities.
- Educational program administration: Study of the foundation and methods in organizing for adult and continuing education programs.
- Curriculum development or design: Study of the principles and techniques for development of curricula for adult or vocational education programs.
- Teaching methods: Study of teaching strategies and learning styles of the adult learner.
- Guidance and counseling: Study of the purposes and methods in counseling and guidance, the role of the counselor in various settings, approaches to counseling, and the uses of tests in the counseling situation.
- Career planning: Study of career development, learning activities, systems, approaches, program coordination, use of educational and community resources, and vocational counseling systems.
- Occupational information: Study of theories of occupational choice and vocational development and their application to the guidance process. Identification and utilization of various types of occupational information and resources.
In lieu of specialized experience, applicants may qualify based on the following education (note: you must provide a college transcript demonstrating education requirements have been met):
3 years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. degree;
OR
a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree.
