This is a formal Air Force intern position, established under the PATHWAYS program; as such, it is centrally managed and funded by the Air Force Personnel Center, Civilian Career Management Directorate and administered by the Audit Career Program.

Duties

- Studies functional and program manuals to gain knowledge of Air Force internal audit work. - Studies the Comptroller General Standards to gain knowledge of governmental audit concepts. - Examines documentation to determine whether transactions are arithmetically correct. - Prepares outlines, charts, drafts, tables, graphs and final reports of audit results, AFA Forms 118 (centrally directed audit response sheets) and other written products in conformance with applicable professional auditing standards. - Attends entrances conferences and audit closeouts to learn presentation techniques.

Qualifications

Air Force Qualifications: Recommend areas of study: Seeking aDegree in Accounting, or a degree in a related field such as Business Administration, Finance, or Public Administration that included or was supplemented by 24 semester hours in Accounting. The 24 hours may include up to 6 hours of credit in Business Law. (The term "Accounting" means "Accounting and/or Auditing". Similarly, "Accountant" should be interpreted, generally, as "Accountant and /or Auditor"). KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: 1. Ability to learn auditing principles, concepts and practices designed to provide practical experience in Air Force Audit Agency programs, policies, practices and procedures. 2. Ability to study and interpret functional an program materials, Air Force Instructions (AFI), regulations, Operating Instructions (OI), comptroller General decisions, etc., to gain knowledge of the audit subject under evaluation. 3. Ability to gather, research, analyze and evaluate data. 4. Ability to input and extract data using a keyboard (qualified typist not required). 5. Ability to work cooperatively with others. 6. Knowledge of basic word processing and office information systems. 7. Ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing. PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
