Mission Statement: The J-3 (Operations), supports the Chairman in carrying out responsibilities as the principal military advisor to the President and Secretary of Defense, developing and providing guidance to the combatant commanders and relaying communications between the President and the Secretary of Defense and the combatant commanders regarding current operations and plans.
Duties
As a SECURITY SPECIALIST at the GS-0080-13 some of your typical work assignments may include:
Manage objectives of multiple specialized programs and overlapping security requirements to ensure the security of classified information.
Provide J-3 Government SAP Security Officer (GSSO) and receives guidance for objective and resources from the supervisor, J-3 SAP Coordinator (SAPCOORD).
Serves as the principal security advisor to the J-3 Special Access Programs (SAP) Coordinator and is the senior most security expert withing JS-J-3.
Conducts construction assessments, evaluates structural safeguards and determines security criteria for construction of proposed areas.
Develops, implements and manages SAP and Alternative Compensatory Control Measures (ACCM) Programs.
Oversees physical security inspections and survey programs.

Qualifications
You may qualify at the GS-13, if you fulfill the following qualifications:
A. One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service:
Executing Physical Security, SCIF security, Anti-Terrorism and Force Protection Programs;
Providing security concepts, principles, and practices to independently review, analyze, and resolve difficult and complex security problems;
Developing and updating physical security manuals and physical security policies; and
Conducting continuing security education training and awareness programs in regards to physical security.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Substitution of education may not be used in lieu of specialized experience for this grade level.
