This position is located in the Office of Professional Conduct (OPC) of the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) and provides support by using data science lifecycle processes and incorporate principles, techniques, and methods including data cleaning, data management, analytics, visualization, and engineering.

Duties
Provides technical leadership on complex data analysis projects, including projects that use complex analytic approaches common to the field of data science including AI/ML techniques, Natural Language Processing (NLP), statistical analysis, geographic analysis, data visualizations, and application/model development.
Creates data visualizations to communicate findings to technical and non-technical audiences applying the latest customer experience practices.
Supports OPC by automating repetitive data processing tasks to improve efficiency; assesses and mitigates risks related to data privacy and security; conducts exploratory data analysis to identify potential opportunities for innovation; develops predictive models to forecast trends and outcomes; document and presents methodology processes and results the stakeholders; integrates staff disparate datasets from multiple sources to create unified data products; and continuously improves data analytics methodologies through research and experimentation.
Translates complex concepts, findings, and results into concise, plain language; closely ties conclusions to the agency mission, original problem statement, and team objectives. Adheres to applicable style guides and standards and is responsive to a variety of stakeholders with varying technical backgrounds.
Qualifications
Qualifying experience may be obtained in the private or public sector. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g. Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic, religious spiritual; community; student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. Basic Requirements:
1. Degree: Mathematics, statistics, computer science, data science or field directly related to the position. The degree must be in a major field of study (at least at the baccalaureate level) that is appropriate for the position.
- OR -
2. Combination of Education and Experience: Courses equivalent to a major field of study (30 semester hours) as shown in paragraph A above, plus additional education or appropriate experience.
In addition to meeting the Basic Requirements above, applicants may qualify based on specialized experience:
Applicants must have completed at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS/CG-14 grade level or above in the Federal service. Specialized experience is experience conducting data analyses using AI/ML techniques, Natural Language Processing (NLP) and other data processing and analytic tools and software to analyze data sets to generate reports conveying statistical or technical information.
