About the Position: Serves as the Security Specialist for the United States Army Medical Activity Health Service Area (USAMEDDAC) (HSA), West Point and associated clinics. This position is a TEMPORARY Not to exceed 1 year position and may be extended in one year increments up to a maximum of three years.
Duties
Perform analytical, planning, and advisory work for the purpose of protecting the personnel, property, facilities, and operations of the command.
Manage all aspects of comprehensive security program for West Point and supporting locations.
Resolve difficult and complex security problems.
Recommend the installation of multilayered security systems for personnel access controls, physical protection devices, monitoring equipment, and remote alarm equipment.
Prepare comprehensive reports providing recommendations for physical security modifications to buildings and facilities.
Plan shift assignments to ensure that guard coverage is provided to assigned patrol areas.
Determine performance standards and evaluations for all assigned personnel.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.
- This position has mandatory seasonal Influenza vaccination requirements and is subject to annual seasonal Influenza vaccinations unless otherwise exempted for medical or religious reasons (documentation of exemption must be provided upon hire).
- This position may require the incumbent to work on call during irregular work hours which may include evenings, weekends, holidays, and/or varying work schedules.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a government driver’s license. Incumbent is required to utilize designated mode of transportation, generally government vehicle or privately owned vehicle, in traveling from one place to another.
- This position requires the incumbent obtain the Security Fundamentals Professional Certification (SFPC) within their first two years of employment.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes overseeing a multi-discipline security program for an organization; analyzing various security actions in a variety of areas such as physical, personnel, and/or operational; assisting with workload distribution for subordinate employees. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09).
