You will serve as a SMALL ARMS REPAIRER in the OPERATIONS DIVISION of NAV SCHOOL EXPLOSIVE ORDNANCE DISPOSAL.
Duties
You will perform maintenance, repairs, and inspections of small arms, artillery, and optical instruments.
You will disassemble weapons, assemblies, and other components.
You will use hand and machine tools, precision gauges, and test instruments.
You will inspect and repair a variety of small arms, determine condition, completeness, serviceability, and the nature and extend of required repairs in accordance with proper technical manuals.
You will perform a variety of functional test to determine the cause of the malfunction and any other necessary repairs.
You will organize and prepare ammunition and explosives for shipment and assure compliance with all applicable hazardous material regulations
You will perform armed guard surveillance when transporting munitions.
Requirements
- Must be a US Citizen.
- Must be determined suitable for federal employment.

- This is a bargaining unit position.
- You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver’s license.
- You will be required to obtain and maintain a current medical certification to handle munitions (Arms, Ammunition and Explosives certification.
- You will be required to obtain and maintain a current Class 1-Hazardous Materials certification.
- You will be required to obtain and maintain a current Quality Assurance and Safety Observer certification.
- You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
- You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
- Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
- You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
- You must meet the qualifications and be certified to carry a firearm. You will need to maintain firearm proficiency.
- This position is covered by the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment (30 Sep 96) of the Gun Control Act (Lautenberg Amendment) of 1968. You will be required to sign a DD-Form-2760, Qualification to possess firearms or ammunition.
- You will be required to complete training, obtain, and maintain a government credit card for travel and travel-related purchases.
Qualifications

Tasks performed in this position include: 1) Disassembling, cleaning, and performing maintenance on a variety of small arms, artilleries, and optical instruments; 2) Assembling small arms in accordance with instructions and manuals; and 3) Manually operating small arm assemblies to check for proper action/operation.
