The primary purpose of this position is: To serve as a second level supervisor, providing planning, directing, organizing, and exercising control over nonsupervisory employees assigned to the 502d Security Forces Squadron.
Duties
Duty 1: Plans, organizes, and directs activities of Logistics Section, ensuring security forces logistical programs comply with legal and regulatory requirements and meet customer needs.
Duty 2: Exercises supervisory management responsibilities.
Duty 3: Represents 502 SFS with a variety of installation and functional area organizations.
Duty 4: Reports to the Defense Force Commander and performs other security forces functions.
Duty 5: Serves as technical advisor and expert to the Defense Force Commander on matters regarding combat weapons proficiency and deployment readiness taskings.

- Work may occasionally require travel away from the normal duty station on military or commercial aircraft.
- This position has been identified as a designated position under the Air Force Drug Testing Plan. Incumbent of this position is subject to the possibility of a random drug test.
- Incumbent is required to obtain and retain a favorable Secret security clearance.
- The work may require the employee to drive a motor vehicle and an appropriate, valid driver’s license will be required.
- May occasionally be required to work other than normal duty hours; overtime may be required. May be required to wear special protective clothing such as coats, boots, gloves and may be exposed to high levels of noise such as aircraft engines.
- This position may be designated mission essential based on local conditions. Mission essential personnel report for duty at normal times when the base is closed or delayed reporting and remain on duty during phased or early release.
- This position may be designated as a key position; must be removed from military recall status if alternatives for filing the position during an emergency are not available.
- Department of Defense Physical Security Certification (PSC) conferral is required within two (2)-years of the established employee EOD
Qualifications
In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Administrative and Management Positions.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-09, or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience includes applying knowledge of Security Forces (SF) policies (i.e. physical, operational, and electronic security), procedures, and practices. Knowledge of safety and security regulations, practices, and procedures. Ability to conduct surveys, assessments, and evaluations of SF equipment inventory utilization to determine combat readiness and the return on investment value for future management decisions.

EDUCATION: Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.M., if related.

COMBINATION OF EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. NOTE: You must submit a copy of your transcripts.
FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-09 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-11 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks. NOTE: Applicants applying as VEOA candidates who are current GS civil service employees or are prior GS civil service employees within the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:
1. Knowledge of Security Forces (SF) policies (i.e. physical, operational, and electronic security), procedures, and practices.
2. Knowledge of safety and security regulations, practices, and procedures.
3. Ability to plan, organize, and direct the functions and staff of a small to medium sized organization.
4. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
5. Knowledge of a wide range of budgetary methods, practices, procedures, regulations, and precedents
6. Ability to conduct surveys, assessments, and evaluations of SF equipment inventory utilization to determine combat readiness and the return on investment value for future management decisions.
Other Significant Facts:
A Bachelors Degree is desired.
PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
