The primary purpose of this position is to serve as Deputy Chief, Maintenance Division in the Directorate of Logistics at a major command (MAJCOM), sharing with the Division Chief the full scope of responsibility for directing the activities of the Division and, in the chiefs absence, possesses the same authority and prerogatives.

Duties
Works with the Division Chief in planning, organizing, and overseeing the activities of the Division.
Participates with the Division Chief in the exercise of supervisory personnel management responsibilities.
Serves as the command focal point for aircraft maintenance matters.
Represents the Maintenance Division with a variety of installation and functional area organizations.
Assists the Division Chief with planning, organization and oversight of all elements of the command aircraft maintenance programs including aircraft systems, air munitions, and depot maintenance activities.
Represents Headquarters (HQ) Air Force Special Operations Command (AFSOC)/A4M Division Chief as required regarding command aircraft maintenance matters at meetings attended by representatives from HQ United States Air Force (USAF), United States Special Operations Command (USSOCOM) and other military agencies.
Works with the Division Chief in the development of guidance and procedures for command aircraft maintenance programs, ensuring that program goals are met effectively.

- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top-Secret clearance with access to Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI).
- Incumbent may be required to fly in military or commercial aircraft to perform temporary duty assignments.
- The incumbent must possess demonstrated leadership and managerial abilities essential to successful accomplishment of the responsibilities inherent in a senior command position.
- Recent (in the last 5 years), deployment experience, is desirable. Experience on the Air Staff in the Logistics functional area to include budget and program management, is desirable.
- Experience as a Logistics Group or Maintenance Group Commander or Deputy Commander to include Depot. Maintenance workload management (aircraft preparations and input/receipt from Programmed Depot Maintenance (PDM) is desirable.
- Due to the high degree of impact on logistics functions, previous Air Force and Air Force Special Operations Command (AFSOC) or United States Special Operations Command (USSOCOM) logistics experience (Cont'd)
- (Cont'd) is mandatory Advanced degree in logistics, aerospace industry or business management is highly desirable Top Secret SCI clearance required IA W DoD 5200 2 V.
- Knowledge and experience implementing LEAN processes into an organization, is desirable.

- "This is a Supervisory Position." A 1 year supervisory probationary period is required if applicant selected has not previously met this requirement.
- This is a drug testing designated position. The incumbent is subject to random testing for drug use.
Qualifications
In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Administrative and Management Positions, Logistics Management Series 0346.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-13, or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience includes knowledge of Air Force, Air Force Special Operations Command (AFSOC) and United States Special Operations Command (USSOCOM) policies, principles, concepts, guidance, procedures, techniques, and methodologies pertaining to aircraft maintenance policies and procedures, financial management methods and procedures. Knowledge of the mission, roles, functions, organizational structures, and operation of Department of Defense (DOD) and Air Force organizations to provide command level staff guidance and to integrate and analyze such guidance in order to evaluate overall program status. Knowledge of Air Force and AFSOC material management programs and operations, management indicators, and material management support activities to provide leadership expertise and advisory services. Knowledge and experience with Air Force Material Command's Air Force Global Logistics Support Center (AFGLSC) and other Air Logistics Center production management. Knowledge and experience building Program Objective Memorandum (POM) submissions and managing budget submissions.
FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-13 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-14 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks. NOTE: Applicants applying as VEOA candidates who are current GS civil service employees or are prior GS civil service employees within the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:

Ability to analyze, plan, and adjust work operations of subordinate organizational segments to meet program requirements and objectives within available resources.
Knowledge of Air Force and AFSOC material management programs and operations, management indicators, and material management support activities to provide leadership expertise and advisory services.
Knowledge and experience with Air Force Material Command's Air Force Global Logistics Support Center (AFGLSC) and other Air Logistics Center production management. Knowledge and experience building Program Objective Memorandum (POM) submissions and managing budget submissions. Skill in applying analytical and evaluative methods and techniques to issues or studies concerning the efficiency and effectiveness of program operations. Ability to effectively represent the organization in high-level meetings and conferences and to maintain cooperative relations with all United States (US) and foreign contacts as well as with industry. Ability to communicate, both orally and in writing, clearly, concisely, and with technical accuracy.
PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
